MAIN ELEMENTS OF THE BUSINESS PLAN

Although each business plan is unique in its content and no “right” way to structure a business plan, the followings are some of the most common parts that are normally addressed:

  • Executive Summary
  • Company Description
  • Market Analysis
  • Marketing and Sales Strategies
  • Products or Services
  • Organization and Management
  • Equity Investment and Funding Request
  • Financial Information

In practice, some of these sections may be omitted or combined for conciseness, while additional sections might be required for some sectors.

Our business planning process

Here is an example of how a business planning engagement might proceed. Please note that each engagement is different and a given assignment is governed by an engagement letter that might outline a process different from the presented example.

Step 1 - Establishing contact by email

You email us a short description of the project, what you would need, what preparations have already been made for the business plan, and what existing materials you already have (e.g. draft or old business plan, financials or any calculations, market research, competition research, etc.). This information will provide a basis for our initial phone conversation. We hold your information in the strictest confidence and use it only to to determine your needs and see how we can help you.

Step 2 - Initial phone assessment

It is a phone conversation following up on your email to get to know each other and to clarify your goals, the purpose of the business plan and to have a better understanding of your business.

Step 3 - Signature of the contract

After signature of the contract and reception of the 50% retainer fee we start our work.

Step 4 - Business Plan Questionnaire

We start our work with sending a questionnaire for you to complete. The answers to this questionnaire and the materials you provide will form the basis of our work. The quality of the plan will also depend on the quality of information you provide.

Step 5 - Completing the Final Draft Business Plan

It can take between 20-30 days to complete the Final Draft of the business plan, depending on the complexity of the plan and the availability of information. We spend this time on understanding and analyzing your business model, researching your target industry and markets, conducting the financial forecasts and putting together the business plan. We will be in touch with you by emails and may book additional phone calls with you to gather any additional information.

Step 6 - Final Business Plan

You may make three revisions to the business plan within the same level of work, for 18 days from when the Final Draft was received. We incorporate your revisions into the business plan and send you the Final Business Plan both in Word and PDF format.
